About the artist

Born and raised in the noise, density, and urban canopy of Toronto, Canada, Silas grew up familiar with the vast expanses of urban landscapes but longed for the freedom of the wilderness and the allure of the unknown places. Brought up in a definitively spiritual and sacred awareness, he was however only encouraged to appreciate the creativity initiated by others, rarely affirmed for his own unique contributions to the artistic conversation. But his core of iconoclasm never disappeared.

Mostly self-taught, he explored live audio, film photography, graphic design, music production, art direction, branding, and event planning, gaining a familiarity with the facets of each medium. Most of the work was in the service of non-profit environments to facilitate broader causes.

Now, Silas continues to break through internal and external barriers, carving out his identity and journeying through increasingly vulnerable and relentless self-expression in visual arts and new outlets, always carrying the early impact of urban forms and the continuous pull of the natural world.
